Case Study: Aligning a Waterfall Oriented Testing Organizationto Iterativeand Incremental Software Development Deliveries

Abstract


This paper examines a case study on lessons learned related to the software testing aspect of quality assurance processes. The case study is based on an organization’s first attempt to partner with a software development firm and become involved in the entire lifecycle of the software development process. This paper identifies the organizational and process changes that were made to maximize the value provided by the customer’s quality assurance (QA) testing organization to the software development effort. The customer realized quickly that he needed to adapt his waterfall process oriented software testing team to the frequent delivery schedules of Pfleeger & Atlee’siterative and incremental process(2010, pp. 56-57)oriented software development firm that he had engaged.
